Squarecap makes it easy to create one session for a course, then run it across multiple meeting times, collating grades across those meeting times into one location. This is especially useful if you're teaching a Canvas-connected course with multiple sections that meet at different times (see also: Linking Courses and Sections).
In order to run a session across multiple sections, you must have added more than one section to your course during course creation. Note that if you've imported a course with multiple sections from Canvas, those sections will automatically be transferred into Squarecap.
Within the course dropdown, your sections will appear underneath the main course.
Do the following to run a session across multiple sections:
- Create a session. Sessions are automatically created for the entire course, and can't be created for just one section.
- When it's time to run the session for a particular section/meeting time, click into that section first, then click Start on the session:
The active session will only be visible to students in that particular section, and not students in other sections of the course.
After class is over, you can click Finish to finish your session. Once you get to the next meeting time, just repeat the process with your next section.
Squarecap will store grade data across all meeting times in the same session, meaning that if you download grades or upload to your LMS, each session will have one column across all meeting times.
